About Brenda
Hi. I’m Brenda. I’m a strategist and storyteller. I’ve built a career transforming complexity into clarity and data into narrative using three tools:
- asking good questions
- listening well
- words.
I’ve always loved stories. I studied theatre at NIDA (2012), hold a Masters Degree in Creative Writing (UTS, 2025) and am a published author in short fiction and non-fiction. So when I say I love language and stories, I really (really) mean it.
With more than 12 year’s experience in the tertiary sector across a number of strategy roles, I’ve developed a special interest in helping senior executives and research leaders translate their ideas through words that work. Serving at both the University of Sydney and UNSW, I’ve developed and delivered enterprise-wide strategies ranging research translation, innovatation and commercialisation, improving the student experience, and faculty and school-level strategies. I love working with people and I love solving problems.
Over my career I’ve developed a strong network of incredible collaborators, ranging investors, tertiary leaders, science communicators, authors, copywriters, analysts, entrepreneurs – the list could go on. This is a big part of what I love about my work – the people I learn from.
A bit about me:
- Born in South Africa, raised on the Sunshine Coast QLD.
- Proudly based in Enmore, Sydney, for the last 13 years.
- Current interests: ice plunges and making focaccia.
- Irregular but enthusiastic runner.
